Travel and Transport
Adult Bus Fares have increased on Lothian Buses.
While under 5s still travel free of charge the adult flat-rate fare is now £1.10 for one journey of any distance. The child flat-rate fare remains at 60p (age 5-15). Day tickets £2.50 adult, £2 child (age 5-15).

Song Circle is a new singing club for babies and under fives. The club meets in Stockbridge on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10am (for children 2-20 months), Friday at 10am (for children 2-5 years), and also on Saturday mornings - ideal for parents who work during the week. The club sings classic nursery rhymes, action songs and lullabies plus poems and some traditional Scottish songs accompanied by acoustic guitar. Simple percussion is used and the songs are illustrated with brightly coloured toys and visual aids. Coffee break in the middle with proper coffee, herbal teas and hot chocolate with biscuits. Parents and carers can socialise while the children play or have stories. Swimming - Glenogle Swim Centre will close on Sunday 19th October 2008 for a major refurbishment. The centre will be closed for 18 months, reopening Spring/Summer 2010. More information is available from Edinburgh Leisure, www.edinburghleisure.co.uk, 0131 650 1001  
 
 
Cookingmania is Edinburgh, and Scotland’s, first & only purpose built kids’ cookery school.  As well as a variety of classes for children aged 6+ they run regular Mummy & Me cookery mornings.  The Mummy & Me mornings are for pre-school aged children, giving them the opportunity to have a go at cooking. Birthday parties and cookery workshops also available. Libraries
The refurbishment of Stockbridge Library is complete. The library reopened at the end of July. The new children’s area has board games and jigsaws as well as plenty of new books to choose from. Seating is child sized but adult chairs are nearby if you want a bit more height.  The general layout has been changed, there is now a toilet for use by customers and also a coffee machine and comfy seats. Computers are available to children within the children’s area (phone to book), adults have computers in a separate room. Easy access for double prams.
